Our story

I’m Liz Vosper and I started Thomson and Vosper in 2024 around my full-time job. Having worked in Higher Education for the last 17 years, I have now taken the exciting (and rather scary) decision to leave my job and focus my efforts entirely on Thomson and Vosper.

I've always loved styling my own home and often dreamed of running my own shop on the high street. I like to draw and I'm working on designing my own fabrics and turning them in to soft furnishings. I started making lampshades and pendants almost 2 years ago and haven't been able to stop myself! Realising I was good at it gave me the confidence to take my dream a step further and set up my own business. 

I set Thomson and Vosper up in memory of my mum and dad (pictured above) who both sadly passed away in 2018. My mum had a long career in midwifery and nursing, and my dad in teaching within the Higher Education sector. My parents never considered their career as ‘just a job’, they cared deeply for people and always impressed upon my sisters and I, the importance of kindness and treating people with dignity and respect irrespective of differences. They brought my sisters and I up to be strong, independent women and they, along with the rest of my gorgeous family, are my inspiration.

I have had a 30+ year career in management and leadership roles and people have always been my passion. Amongst the many things I have got wrong along the way, I hope that I have supported those around me and helped them to understand how amazing they are. Hearing their anxieties and lack of self-belief has motivated me to support them and gently challenge negative self-talk. I have been called caring, supportive, kind and inspirational and these are the values I’m placing at the heart of Thomson and Vosper.

I firmly believe that if we have the opportunity to follow our dreams, we should do so, and I’ve lived by that. I’ve tried to be brave and give things that pique my curiosity or passion a go. I’d rather try and fail than waste time wondering what might have been. So, here I am, following my dreams, channelling my creative spirit and aiming to be kind and caring along the way.
